Announcing our New Local Artist in Residence: Sam Decoste

The Centre for Art Tapes is very pleased to announce that Sam Decoste has been selected as our Local Artist-In-Residence for Spring/Summer 2016. The Local Artist in Residence program provides an opportunity for local media artists to experiment and develop new works involving audio, video, or new media. This residency will take place at the Centre for Art Tapes from April 2016 through September 2016. Previous Local Artists in Residence include: Michael McCormack, D’arcy Wilson, Lisa Lipton, Krista Davis, Will Robinson, Khanhthan Tran, and Melanie Colosimo.Sam Decoste is an experimental animator based in Halifax. She has been teaching and working in experimental animation since graduating with a BFA in Animation,Concordia University in 1999. Decoste has been the recipient of a number of grants and awards including a Canadian Screen Award nomination. She recently graduated with a MFA from NSCAD University and will be beginning her residency after returning from her stay as Artist in Residence at the Klodike Institute of Art and Culture. During her six-month residency Decoste will be working on her new animated short Salon.If you are interested in interacting with out current LAIR, Sam is available.
