Tori here! Most of you probably know me as CFAT’s Executive Director, but I’ve worn many hats here at CFAT! I first came to the Centre as a Media Art Scholar in 2014, when I created my first animation. I had just graduated with a BFA from NSCAD and CFAT was so integral in helping me find my community after leaving academics. I spent some time animating, which turned into media installations, which has recently turned into narrative filmmaking. Every step of the way CFAT has been my studio/equipment resources/community and I’m so thankful for that!

My first job at CFAT was Programming Coordinator, and programming continues to be my favourite part of the Centre. With every new artist in residence, or screening, or exhibition I get to see work that feeds me creatively and keeps me on my toes. Here’s a short list of some things I’ve found in the studios on Tuesday mornings at 8am: over 100 acrylic nails, a very alarming amount of fake blood, multiple garbage bags full of teddy bears, puppets that haunted me to my core and wish to never see again, and sleeping artists on the floor.

I love the community that CFAT attracts and my door is always open to any member who wants to chat!

I am a video, sound, performance and digital artist.

I started working for CFAT as an artist, and still rely on this gear for my own practice. Every project since returning to my hometown of Hfx has had CFAT involved in some shape or form.

In 2020, I had a Technical grant with CFAT, then was their 2021 artist-in-residence during Nocturne. I was the Exhibition Coordinator for The Media Art Scholarship. I organized the exhibition at the AGNS and printed a risograph with spekwork. After that, I covered Tori’s maternity leave and served as the Interim Executive Director for 2022. Now I am the Production and Membership Coordinator, and manage our bookings. Reach me if you have any questions on gear/equipment.
